Weary Travelers
Our travel night/day from Chicago > Barcelona > Granada was long and mostly uneventful. We did discover that Will becomes a slug on no sleep and Leo turns into a jackrabbit on cocaine. He devoured 3 trays of rubbery chicken and rice at 11 pm, slept 3 hours and then was up and at 'em running around like a wild man at the Barcelona airport waiting for our connecting flight for 5 hours.
Here we goooooooooo!!!!! (Still haven't noticed we left an entire bag (full of my contacts for the year, winter clothes and medications) back at my parents' house...this is going to come to light soon and the realization isn't pretty)
Waiting patiently (Leo) and apprehensively (Will) at the terminal for our delayed flight.
Arrival into Barcelona's airport. Looking good but it's 3 in the morning Chicago time. We had to trek across the airport with our 500 pounds of luggage to get to another terminal and then wait there for several hours for our flight to Granada.
This is me and my super haute couture glam euro look: a 3 dollar Norwegian airline blanket as pashmina. I think that's actual grease on my forehead.
Slug.
Jackrabbit.
Pedro!!!! Our dear friend and faithful guía picked us up at the Granada airport and all is right with the world! (This after Leo and Will were being annoying and pushing each other around at the baggage claim and Leo slipped on the marble floors and fell face first into the ground. It echoed throughout the terminal and he had blood streaming down his face from a nose bonk. Bienvenidos a Granada, Leo!)
I felt like taking a nice long nap once we arrived at Pedro's mother's house, but it was 6:30 pm and Pedro wanted to show us our new neighborhood. I wish I could blindfold you and reveal the Alhambra view from our neighborhood the way Pedro did. He didn't actually blindfold us, but told us to close our eyes and turned a corner and there she was ......
Takes your breath away!
Jackrabbit starting to lose a little juice.
Slug down for the count.
They perked up after chugging a couple limonada Fantas and were soon running the ancient stone streets fueled by sugar and excitement about their new neighborhood.
Game Recognize Game
It was midnight at this point. Families with kids of all ages out and about. The rumors are true, Spain is nuts and Spaniards like to party. We headed home, fell into bed and had a weird night of jet laggy sleep with visions of tapas and half glasses of icy cold beers danced in our heads. A long day, but happy and eager to explore our new life here in the days to come.

I’d likely be in tears and back home by now. I’m loving living vicariously through you, while in the comfort of my living room.
Are you all on what’s app? Can we call you?
