No es broma, hace calor

Our second full day in Granada and good Lord, the heat here is no joke.

Still slugging.

Our epicure tasting the first of the 4 billion salted meats he will eat this year.

We needed an ice cream pit stop because it was 1 billion degrees and making any movement outside between the hours of 11am and 7 pm equals sweat and grossness and whiny kids. Leo, ever the ice cream adventurer, went for tutti frutti. His review -- "Bad"

After siesta this day, we went to Sacromonte, which is the ancient cave neighborhood where we will actually be living (en una cueva) on September 5. All the buildings are white and the streets are even more twisty & turny. Gorgeous terraces and mosaics around every corner.

We took a walk down through the birthplace of Flamenco and the cave homes of the gypsy families that live in this area. This little guy's mother was a famous Flamenca and he operates a bare bones tiny bar with plastic chairs and offers cold beers and manchego on a plate. I obviously want to leave Pat for him. (Apparently, he's already married to a German woman 30 years younger than him)

We capped off our night at yet another incredible restaurant on a terrace overlooking the Alhambra. One of the beautiful things about Granada is that every time you order a drink anywhere (like from a fancy restaurant to a little divey tavern), you get a plate of tapas brought to your table. It's a little fun and delicious treat every time you order a drink and you could potentially eat all night long bar hopping. Another beautiful thing is that even thought you are sitting across from a World Heritage Site light up gorgeously under the stars, Leo chose to sketch something more dear and special to him: his Fanta.

Everything is so amazing! The little walkways, the tiny man, who I mistook as an elderly grandmother, and the boys’ seemingly seamless acclimation.
♥️Who needs scenery when you can draw your new favorite beverage?
